Snowden

There are two lines of thinking on Snowden. On the one hand he broke his promise to vouchsafe for documents that are vital to the secret service. If a state let's this go a lot of people might think to do the same: Break the law. Teachers, police, the army. Without law and order our world would collapse.

ON THE OTHER HAND: The USA cannot prosecute Snowden as a criminal on the grounds of breaking the law when the reason for the whole affair is the breaking national and international law by the US secret service. The freedom of privacy of millions of people should be valued higher then the efficiency of the secret services.

A famous quote: "What if the state we are protecting is the one we need protection of?"

Snowden should have been given political asylum in Germany. The shadow of a giant is a comfortable place. Not a sunny place either.
